He's spent 20 years on Crown Battery and a lifetime on Lake Erie. Meet the charter captain and tournament angler kicking off our new Power Behind Performance series.
Some people talk about performance. Others live it every single day, out on the water, on the course, at the track. Starting today, Crown Battery is telling their stories.
Power Behind Performance is a new content series spotlighting the athletes, competitors and everyday operators who trust Crown Battery to show up when it counts. Each installment pairs a short film with a look at the person behind it: what drives them, what they demand from their equipment, and how Crown powers their day.
First up: Lake Erie charter captain and tournament angler Grant Gallagher.
Meet Grant Gallagher
Grant has spent more than 20 years on Crown Battery, and even longer on the water. Based in Port Clinton, Ohio, he's just a short drive from the boat ramp and Lake Erie, the 11th largest lake in the world and, by his account, one of the best smallmouth fisheries anywhere.
Fishing isn't a side gig for Grant. It's his living and his identity. He guides clients, competes on the tournament trail and puts in the long days that come with both. It's also where he first learned what dependable power actually means.
Grant grew up around sponsored Crown anglers who mentored him early on, and he's made it a point to pass that forward. He now runs youth fishing camps that teach kids knot-tying, fish identification and how to respect the resource that shaped his own career. It's the kind of full-circle story that fits right into Crown's own: a century of showing up for the people who show up every day.
The Setup Behind the Performance
Grant's boat runs on two Crown Battery products working in tandem:
-
A cranking battery that starts the boat, runs the big motor and powers the live well and electronics throughout the day.
-
Velocity® PerformEdge™ Lithium, a 12-volt, 120 amp-hour battery dedicated to his trolling motor.
For a guide or tournament angler, the difference shows up in the details. Grant can go two to three days without a charge on the Velocity® Lithium, which means less time worrying about power and more time focused on the water, whether he's guiding clients, practicing or grinding through a multi-day tournament.
